House Rules / Code of Conduct
Dress
A minimum dress standard of “Casual” implies some form of footwear (takkies, slip slops etc), no hats or caps to be worn indoors, a shirt (including a t-shirt) to be worn at all times indoors, and members making use of facilities after a sporting event to do so in suitable and relatively clean attire (ie. A dry shirt/not offensive in sight or smell)
Members and visitors are therefore kindly requested to change after a sporting event, if necessary.
Liquor/Alcohol
Alcohol will be served in compliance with the requirements of the Club’s liquor licence and in accordance with the safety and well-being of patrons.
Liquor will not be served to anyone under the age of 18, and formal identification may be requested before alcoholic beverages are sold.
Unauthorised members may not enter the area behind the bar counter at any time, without express permission from the team that is responsible for and manages the bar facilities.
Alcohol will not be served to any person who appears to be intoxicated, and the club supports the responsible consumption of alcohol at all times.
Members and visitors displaying unacceptable or inappropriate behaviour due to excessive consumption of alcohol may be asked to leave the premises.
Liquor may not be brought onto the premises without special permission from at least one committee member of each of the Bowls club and the Running club (ie. ‘booze box’ alcohol for storage).
It is required by law that alcohol may not be removed from the premises (beyond the property boundaries of either fencing or hedges).
Members are requested to return ‘returnable’ beer bottles to the Bar, place their empty glasses on the trays provided and dump cans and non-returnable bottles in the refuse bins.
Decorum
On all occasions, members and visitors are to treat each other with respect and courtesy. Appropriate and responsible behaviour must be displayed at all times, in all interactions and in relation to alcohol and other substances.
Respect to all members and visitors must be shown regardless of age, race, gender, ability, cultural
background, sexual orientation or religious persuasion.
Security
Those who leave the Club last must ensure that all doors and windows are secured, lights switched off and the alarm engaged.
Membership confirmation
Membership lists of both clubs to be kept in the club house.
Members may be requested to present their membership cards should the need arise, and should be asked to do so in a reasonable, non-aggressive/non-confrontational manner.
Bathroom & Cloakroom facilities
Facilities are to be used respectfully and to be maintained as one would one’s own private facilities. Items are to be disposed of in a suitable manner, using either the disposal bins provided or to be removed and disposed of by the individual in a responsible manner.
No part of the facilities are to be deliberately damaged or defaced.
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted in the clubhouse, and people smoking outside the clubhouse must use the ashtrays and bins provided.
Litter
All members and visitors are prohibited from littering under any circumstances.
General cleanliness
Should an accidental mess be made, the member or visitor involved must ensure that the mess is cleaned up, using the available cleaning materials kept in the kitchen area.
No mess or damage must be left unattended.
Discrepancies/conflicts
No members or visitors should attempt to resolve irresponsible behaviour or behaviour in contravention of this Code of Conduct, but should refer the matter to a member of his or her respective Committee.
Non-compliance with the Code of Conduct
The Bowling Club and the Running Club will take disciplinary action where necessary for breaches of this Code of Conduct.
An issue will be addressed by the Club Captain of each respective club in the first instance, or where unavailable within a reasonable time period, by the Chairman/President of each respective club.
An issue will be escalated to the full Committee of each respective club where it is considered by the
Captain or Chairman/President to be sufficiently serious to warrant such attention.
